Reason for the change of venue from the Overland Park Convention Center to the KCI Expo Center:

"I wanted to share some news of changes that will impact our conference in the future. Our current host, Overland Park Convention Center, has narrowed the choices of weekends to us for the future to being Easter weekend. After surveying our vendors and many members, it was determined that this wasn't a feasible time frame.

The Conference Committee researched several options. We looked at churches again and other conference centers in the metropolitan area. No church situation was satisfactory for the growth our conference has experienced in both vendors and attendees. The conference center options boiled down to Bartle Hall and the KCI Expo Center. Both settings offer the features we need to host another conference.

After praying for wisdom and researching the preferences of several MPE members, we have determined that the KCI Expo Center is the better choice. It is a bit further to drive for southern Johnson County members, but it is interstate up to the last 3 blocks. The KCI Expo Center has plenty of free parking, lots of meeting space, good breakout rooms, lower food expenses and more affordable hotel space.

I want to encourage you to set aside time to attend next year's conference. We will continue to invite outstanding speakers who will present excellent workshops that will encourage you along in your homeschool choices. We will offer conference packages including conference admission, hotel rooms, meals and the children's conference. We are exploring short-term childcare for next year's conference for those with children under the age of 6 years so moms can attend and not be hindered with additional arrangements.

I appreciate your attendance at this year's event. I hope that you will continue to show your great support for our annual conference and curriculum fair."
